My family is celebrating Summer by taking advantage of our community pool. We are able to walk there and not only get in a little exercise but we also save on gas. Another fun thing we are doing this summer is silly projects at home with objects we would normally throw away (toilet paper rolls, etc.) This not only gives the kids something to do, and out of my hair, but it also gives new life to things that would normally end up in the garbage. Oh and one really fun thing that we are doing this summer is growing our own tomatoes and strawberries! So far we have be able to enjoy sweet strawberries but we are still waiting on our green tomatoes to turn red. One other fun thing we have been doing this Summer is buying lots of popsicles, or making our own, and inviting all the neighborhood kids over to have popsicle parties. It's a fun and refreshing way to enjoy the summer!

I’ve been fortunate enough and grown fond of our secret paradise tucked along Sagamore Beach. The waves lull me to sleep and are still there to whisper good morning. It’s the calmness that washes over our busy lives. The more independent I have become, the more I realize just how important Sagamore Beach is to me. Amidst each 4th of July celebration, each bonfire we have sat around admiring the fireworks displays, each wiffle ball game on the sandbar, and each dive we have taken off the jetty into hide tide, there has been one recurring event that stands above all and brings the most meaning to Sagamore Beach: family dinners. There is no such thing as ordinary family dinners for our big family. Sometimes guests are surprised by the two kitchens that were built in my summer home, until they witness the preparation process for each home-cooked meal. The grill either never had gas in it, or just wouldn’t start at all. It’s no wonder there was an entire coffee can on the counter filled with matches. Papa always has to have his corn on the cob, or as he would pronounce it with his Boston accent, his “cahhn on the cahhb”. We would spend time on the deck shucking each cob, as the brown hair blew through the beach grass, making the next door patio look like a barber shop floor. This process took an eternity, unless all six grandchildren were present. We would then fall asleep on the floor in our salty bathing suits as we watched cartoons in front of the television.
At that point, Dad would finally have the grill lit and was busy trying not to burn the hamburgers and hot dogs. Auntie Lynne would be sipping on her pre-dinner cocktail that Uncle Mark made for her, all the while pretending to help Mom make the salad. Mom would be wrist deep in lettuce hollering at us kids to stop watching TV and get in the shower. If our favorite family dog, Fendi, were still here, Auntie Lynne would be chasing her down the beach, trying to keep her from barreling full speed into a ninety-year old couple who were out for their evening stroll along the sandbar. Nana would be simmering a vegetable on the stove, while Uncle Mark would be chatting on the phone with one of his many friends, to avoid helping with dinner. This seemingly out-of-control and interesting scene was a common occurrence on any given night at our home on Sagamore Beach. However, no matter how crazy we get, the world seems to stop turning once we all sit down together for our meal. The food is always fantastic, the stories and conversation unforgettable, as serenity and happiness wash over us all.
The point of the matter here is not about how much fun we have on the beach each summer day. I simply consider these aspects an additional gift because the real gift that Sagamore Beach has given me is memories that will forever tie my family together. This structure is simply pieces of wood, plaster, and accessories without the memories that our family has shared each summer to make this house a home.

This summer I plan to celebrate summer by taking some vacation time to be with my two young boys who are 2 and 3 years old. We are planning to relax and enjoy the hot weather keeping cool relaxing in the pool instead of using electricity to run air conditioning in the house. I recently bought a bike trailer and the kids love to ride in the back and it is good exercise for mom! We are also working on a large vegetable garden that my kids have been helping me tend to! My boys are very excited to try all the different vegetables they are growing in our garden and I am very excited to try lots of new recipes!!!

What isn't there to love about summer? First and foremost, I like to use as much vacation time in the summer as possible. Being a native New Englander, who wants to take time off in the winter to be cooped up in the house? I love days off/weekends so I can spend time with my toddler daughter. We love to go to the playground and to swim in Grammy's pool. We also started a small vegetable garden for her to attend to herself - she loves to water all of her plants! We also are fortunate to live in a great walking neighborhood so taking the 2 mile round trip walk has become part of our nightly routine, weather permitting. Additionally, we love attending outdoor concerts and grilling outside. And most importantly - I love the nights that are that perfect temperature -- not too hot and not too cold, where you sleep with all the windows open but still need a blanket to keep warm.

My wife is a teacher and has the summer off, and we had a daughter in February. So, We will spend our summer hanging out a lot outside. We grow a small garden in our suburb yard and wait all year long to eat our fresh produce. Tomatoes, Eggplant, Zucchini, Peppers, Cabbage, Potatoes, Celery, Kale, Lettuce, Carrots, Beats, Radishes, Herbs, Blueberries, Strawberries, and so much more.
We are eco-friendly in lots of ways. Hard core recyclers, and we even compost all of our kitchen and yard scraps and turn them into dirt that we mix back into our garden each year.
I have to work, but i'm self employed so I come home for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. There is nothing more exciting than coming home to my wife and baby girl all summer long.
The ladies will spend their days on the beach, in the garden, and outside enjoying nature all around.
We love ZeeBerry, my wife just received her first Alex and Ani bracelets I bought her last week and she was thrilled!
